Novena to the Holy Spirit
The Church’s oldest novena: nine days of prayer between the Ascension and Pentecost, when the apostles waited with Mary for the promised Helper. Pray it for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit’s seven gifts.
Begins May 7, ending the eve of Pentecost.
Pray one day's prayer each day, nine days in a row. The next day opens tomorrow, and days you've prayed stay open to reread.
Day 1 of 9 · Come, Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Holy Spirit, Lord and Giver of Life, the apostles gathered in the upper room with Mary and waited nine days for you. Teach me to wait as they waited — patient, praying, expectant. Open my heart wide to receive you, and begin in me whatever work you desire.
Come, Holy Spirit; I welcome you.
Amen.
Conclude with an Our Father, a Hail Mary, and a Glory Be.
Daily reminders to keep a novena are set in the Cato app.
