Visit This House
Visita, quaesumus
This is the closing prayer of Compline, the night office, and monks have ended the day with it for more than a thousand years. It asks God to visit the house, to clear it of every trap of the enemy, and to post angels in it until morning. It was written for a monastery dormitory and works just as well for an apartment.

Visit, we beseech you, O Lord, this dwelling,
and drive far from it all the snares of the enemy.
Let your holy angels dwell here
to keep us in peace,
and let your blessing be always upon us.
