Delete your Cato account

Cato lets you permanently delete your account and the data we hold for it at any time, directly from the app. You don't need to email us.

Delete from inside the app

1. Open Cato on your phone.
2. Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation, then the gear icon in the top-right to open Settings.
3. Scroll to the bottom of Settings and tap Delete account.
4. Confirm in the dialog. Your account and the data listed below are deleted immediately and the app drops you into a fresh anonymous session.

This action is permanent. There is no undo and no recovery window once you confirm.

What is deleted

When you delete your account, we permanently remove:

• Your authentication record (email, sign-in provider link).
• Your profile (display name, patron saint, hearts, coins, XP, streak, completed lessons, friends, league standings).
• Your prayer log and any prayer streak freezes.
• Your battle history, ratings, and any battle invitations you sent or received.
• Your Scripture highlights and last-read position.
• Your achievements and any saved onboarding preferences.
• Your push-notification token, so we stop sending you reminders.

What we may retain (and why)

For a short period after deletion, we may retain:

• Anonymized server logs — request/response logs stripped of user identifiers, kept up to 30 days for operational security and debugging. These cannot be tied back to you.
• Receipt records (paying users only) — if you ever purchased a subscription through Apple or Google, our payments provider (RevenueCat) retains the transaction record as long as required by Apple/Google and applicable tax law. This is purchase metadata only — no profile data — and is the standard retention for app-store receipts.

We do not keep your name, email, profile data, learning history, prayer history, or highlights after deletion.

Can't access the app?

If you can't open Cato (e.g. you've uninstalled it or can't sign in), email us at support@thecatoapp.com from the address tied to your account. Tell us you want your account deleted and we'll do it manually within 7 days and confirm by reply.
